Blessings Run Deep

Today I am grateful for our working washer and dryer, refrigerator, stove, and other appliances. They help make staying at home comfortable and efficient.

Consider pausing for the next six minutes, or at some point today when you need a break, and watch Blessings.

It is described here:

Experience the serenity of six blessings for everyday life in our new meditative film, "Blessings." Read by Br. David Steindl-Rast, "a man whose humble teachings," filmmaker Doug Menuez writes, "have helped millions to navigate the uncertainty and suffering bound up with being alive." Allow yourself to be reminded of the sacredness of every moment and to live from the great fullness of your heart.

"Navigate the uncertainty and suffering bound up with being alive." Living gratefully, from the wisdom of one of this era's noted spokespersons on the topic, doesn't ask us to shirk doubt and pain, but rather work our way through it, learning as we go.

"Allow yourself to be reminded . . ."  Gently let your attention be held.

" . . . of the sacredness of every moment . . . " In the generous space between breaths.

The video begins here:

“Bless what there is, for being. Whatever it be, bless it because it exists; you need no other reason.”

This asks very little of you and I. Why is it so hard? Try easier.

Thank you Brother David and Doug Menuez for these reminders, more apropos than ever.
